Dear Father of Mine

a pantoum poem inspired by a pinayism poetry workshop led by allyson tintiangco-cubales:

I worry about my wedding day
I said, "You were never there."
My mom really misses you
I feel overwhelmed like my heart is heavy

I said, "You were never there."
There is no father-daughter dance without a father
I feel overwhelmed like my heart is heavy
What am I going to tell my daughter about you?

There is no father-daughter dance without a father
Who's going to walk me down the aisle and give me away?
What am I going to tell my daughter about you?
It's supposed to be the happiest day of my life

Who's going to walk me down the aisle and give me away?
I cry and I wish I could make it stop
It's supposed to be the happiest day of my life
This pain will always be a part of me

I cry and I wish I could make it stop
My mom really misses you
This pain will always be a part of me
I worry about my wedding day
